5-year program

The University of Nicosia’s MD program emphasizes experiential learning, integrating clinical skills and communication training throughout the curriculum. Teaching methods include simulated patients, mannequins, and advanced computer-based simulations, which play a key role in developing students’ practical skills. Electronic access to resources, such as the university’s library, enhances learning. The scientific foundation of the medical profession is stressed throughout the program, particularly during the initial years.

The program consists of a five-year structure, all taught in Cyprus. Clinical training begins in the first semester, with students gaining experience in hospitals and clinics across Cyprus. The clinical placements increase in complexity, culminating in extensive rotations during the final two years at major teaching hospitals in Cyprus, including Nicosia General Hospital.

The faculty utilizes modern anatomy teaching methods with imaging, specimens, and computer-assisted learning in a state-of-the-art anatomy center. This hands-on approach prepares students for clinical settings by combining theoretical knowledge with practical applications.
